04/15/2010: A Day in the Life...Waffle House.
It's a staple of the South and can be found all over Macon. While many of us may frequent the waffle house, we probably haven't thought of what it's like to work in one.
Cedric Finch wears just one Waffle House hat on the job every day, but his position requires him more than one duty. As a District Manager of the 11 Waffle Houses in Bibb County, Cedric fills a productive role in the diner. He starts his day at 6:30a.m. and spends his day split between different tasks.
“We don’t just sit in the office all day, we do everything from cooking to serving," says Cedric Finch. A Waffle House Manager spends most of his time in the kitchen. On any given day he’ll make more than 100 waffles and help cook up to 1,500. When it's busy, he's also in charge of cooking 12 orders at one time.
